Virtual Learning starts November 23
Thank you for your continued flexibility, support, and willingness to partner with us during this unique time in your child’s educational journey. Here are the changes that will be occurring with our instruction beginning Monday, November 23, 2020. The Washington Elementary School District follows the matrix from the state and local health officials, the Governor and Superintendent of Public Instruction to determine the appropriate learning model for our students. Because we have not seen a substantial decrease in benchmarks, students in the Hybrid A/B Learning Model will return to Online Distance Learning five days a week beginning Monday, November 23. Important information to know: · Students that attended in person (HYBRID) will continue to receive instruction from their in person teacher in a VIRTUAL format (5 days per week). This means that students will no longer be coming on campus for instruction. Because all instruction is done virtually, students must report to their classes each day at 8:15 a.m. then follow their schedule on Google Calendar. Check for papers that went home with students with directions. · Students that attended ONLINE will continue to receive instruction from their ONLINE teacher. No changes will be made to their schedule. · Please continue to pay attention to district and school communication including emails, outdials, and social media posts for the most up to date information. · Daily attendance continues to be important. Please help us by ensuring that your child attends all classes throughout the day, using Google Calendar and Google Meets. · Work completion is equally important. Please support your child’s academic progress by ensuring that they are completing their work assigned through Google Classroom in a timely manner. · If you have not already done so, please take a moment to like our Acacia Facebook page and check our website (Acacia.wesdschools.org) for updates. · As always, we have a team of staff members who are eager and willing to help with any difficulty you may face. Feel free to reach out directly to your child’s teacher by email or contact the front office (602-896-5000). I know this is a difficult time. We will miss seeing Acacia A+++ students in our building but look forward to the day when we can safely return to in person learning.

myOn Assignment; 20 minutes of Reading every night
This has been my real “Assignment” for the past 19 years and all students have been pretested and trained to do this online program at home. I am asking that each student read at least 20 minutes a night on our program. This equals 100 minutes a week! Because we know nights can be busy for families, we have added the entire weekend to the count. This is another reason we searched for something easy that can be done anywhere with a Chromebook. Of course, we know that books in your hands are wonderful and encourage students to read these after their 20 minutes or more. I am such a firm believer in reading outside of the school day. I am also a mom, and have seen the success for my own children as they pursued their careers. As always, please reach out if you have any questions! |
